About the Estate

Oakfield is an award-winning estate of 106 luxury flats situated in a peaceful setting a short walk from Wimbledon Common and about a mile from Wimbledon Village. The very attractive grounds are surrounded by mature trees, many planted in the 18th century by Capability Brown, and include a large area of lawn, where residents may sit and enjoy the garden.

Oakfield residents have the services of a full-time team of estate staff: an estate manager, two porters (one with maintenance responsibilities), cleaners and a contract gardener.

The estate has underground garage spaces, individual garages at ground level and additional space for short-term and visitors’ parking.

Flats are held on long-term leases (975 years as of 2011).  Oakfield Residents Limited (ORL) is wholly owned by the leaseholders of the flats.  Each lease represents a share in the company.  ORL’s directors, too, are leaseholders and give their services free.

As a company limited by guarantee, ORL is obliged to hold an annual general meeting (AGM), at which the chairman presents his report for the preceding year. Voting for new directors also takes place at the AGM.

The flats were built near the top of the hill, overlooking the All England Lawn Tennis Club, home of the Wimbledon tennis championship.

In 1968, not long after building was completed, Oakfield and Cedar Court together won two commendations for good design, one from the Ministry of Housing and the other from the Civic Trust.
