Wimbledon Common, together with Putney Heath, which adjoins it, covers over 1000 acres (400 ha), nearly 80% of which are designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation. There are several ponds, two golf courses, and 16 miles of horse rides.


Cannizaro Park

Cannizaro Park is a 36-acre open space not far from the edge of the Common. Originally a private garden, it has grade-II listing because of its collection of rare trees. Its attractions include an azalea dell, a pond and a large area of grass.


Wimbledon Park

Wimbledon Park, which has access from Wimbledon Park Road or Home Park Road, is notable for its many sporting facilities. It also features an ornamental garden, a large lake and plenty of green space.
